FACILITIES : TRANSFER STATIONS : NORFOLK

Norfolk Transfer Station

The Norfolk Transfer Station receives solid waste from the city's municipal haulers, Norfolk residents and private waste haulers. Solid waste is screened and separated by staff members. The burnable waste is loaded onto SPSA transfer vehicles and delivered to the Refuse Derived Fuel Plant to be converted into fuel. The non-burnable waste is delivered to a Landfill where it is spread, compacted and buried under six inches of soil.
