SPSA Retains The Vectre Corporation
(January 10, 2007; Chesapeake, Virginia) -- The Southeastern Public Service Authority (SPSA), after completing a competitive procurement process, has retained the Vectre Corporation, a Richmond-based government relations company with offices in Virginia Beach, for a six-month contract, effective January 1, 2007. The primary purpose of the representation is to assist SPSA in identifying and securing future regional solid waste capacity for SPSA’s member communities.
Vectre has a long track record of involvement in solid waste matters in the Hampton Roads region and currently represents two of SPSA’s member communities, Virginia Beach and Portsmouth, on state government matters. Philip F. Abraham, Director and General Counsel at Vectre, will lead Vectre’s representation of SPSA. Abraham said, “The Vectre Team looks forward to assisting SPSA as it moves forward with the identification of new cost-effective and environmentally responsible regional solid waste capacity to serve its member communities in the years ahead.”

and its residents since 1985. SPSA’s solid waste management system
includes waste-to-energy, yard waste composting, drop-off and curbside
recycling as well as other recycling programs, household hazardous waste
collection, landfilling, landfill gas-to-energy and education programs.
This integrated waste management system enables SPSA to put 57% of the
waste it receives to a beneficial use, thus allowing the region to reduce
its dependence on landfills.
