SPSA recycled over 1.3 million pounds of tin and steel in 2006 - that's enough tin and steel to make 13,000 refrigerators.
SPSA recycled 42,794 cubic yards of yard waste in 2006 - that's enough to make over 577,000 bags of mulch and compost.

PRESS ROOM SPSA to Hold Public Hearing on Preliminary Tipping Fee Schedule as Part of April 25 Board Meeting (April 18, 2007 Chesapeake, VA) – At the Southeastern Public Service Authority’s (SPSA) April 25 Board of Directors meeting, a public hearing will be held for citizen comments on the agency’s preliminary tipping fee schedule. To view the preliminary tipping fee schedule click here. SPSA has been providing efficient and environmentally sound waste disposal services to the region and its residents since 1985. SPSA’s solid waste management system includes waste-to-energy, yard waste composting, drop-off and curbside recycling as well as other recycling programs, household hazardous waste collection, landfilling, landfill gas-to-energy and education programs. This integrated waste management system enables SPSA to put 57% of the waste it receives to a beneficial use, thus allowing the region to reduce its dependence on landfills.
