PUBLIC RELATIONS SOCIETY HONORS SPSA PR/MARKETING DIRECTOR

(CHESAPEAKE, VA, December 11, 2006) – Felicia W. Blow, director of public relations and marketing for the Southeastern Public Service Authority, has received the Public Relations Society of America’s Citation for Meritorious Service to the organization.
            Mrs. Blow received the citation for her active participation on PRSA’s national nominating committee. She also has served on other national PRSA boards.  
            As SPSA’s PR and marketing director, Mrs. Blow has served as the solid waste management authority’s spokeswoman.  She also originates and designs programs and consumer materials intended to heighten public awareness of the organization’s services to more than one million customers in South Hampton Roads and western Tidewater.

SPSA has been providing efficient and environmentally sound waste disposal services to the region and its residents since 1985. SPSA’s solid waste management system includes waste-to-energy, yard waste composting, drop-off and curbside recycling as well as other recycling programs, household hazardous waste collection, landfilling, landfill gas-to-energy and education programs. This integrated waste management system enables SPSA to put 57% of the waste it receives to a beneficial use, thus allowing the region to reduce its dependence on landfills.
