SPSA Christmas and New Year’s Day Holiday Schedules

(Chesapeake, VA – December 18, 2007) – For the Tuesday, December 25, 2007 Christmas Day holiday and the Tuesday, January 1, 2008 New Year’s Day Holiday, all of SPSA administrative offices will be closed.

For the Christmas Day holiday, all of SPSA’s operating facilities also will be closed, except for the Power Plant which is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

For New Year’s Day, all of SPSA’s operating facilities will be closed except for the following facilities which will observe a regular work day: Norfolk Transfer Station; RDF and Power Plants in Portsmouth; and Regional Landfill in Suffolk.

Also, below is information regarding holiday impacts on curbside recycling schedules:

Curbside Recycling for Christmas Day

  • Norfolk’s Tuesday, December 25 routes will be collected on Monday, the 24th

  • Chesapeake's Tuesday, December 25 routes will be collected on Wednesday, the 26th 

Curbside Recycling for New Year’s Day

  • Norfolk's Tuesday, January 1 routes will be collected as scheduled

  • Chesapeake's Tuesday, January 1 routes will be collected on Wednesday, January 2

(No other communities’ routes are affected by the holidays.)

Finally, all of SPSA administrative offices and operating facilities will resume normal operations on Wednesday, December 26, 2007 and Wednesday, January 2, 2008 respectively.
